  • When my parents think of video/online games, they think it’s a waste of a time and it has no educational value. Times have changed and the younger generation has gained many skills and knowledge through games. One of the better example is an interactive game called Lost Joules.

Lost Joules is an online game currently in development to promote energy conservation and efficiency. A smart meter will connect to the player’s house and will be rewarded by maintaining low energy usage. Others will compete to be energy efficient or invest in the leading players.

Lost Joules has been featured on media such as Green:Net, Wired, Fast Company and even a book Reality is Broken: What Games Make Us Better and How They Can Change the World.

When I was brainstorming for this trailer, I researched intensely on how to conserve energy. In order to film this trailer, I couldn’t help but to be energy efficient myself. I bought energy efficient light bulbs and power surge among other energy saving items which I ended up using. It resulted in lowering my energy bill and changing my behavior for the better.

The music and sound was composed by my good friend Randy Gist.
    This was energy made fun!

  • Hello tumblr, it’s been a long time.

Past few years, I’ve ventured through many types of art & design. I approach new creative mediums by colliding with it head first, breaking it apart and using its pieces to create something more aesthetic and functional. It’s an unconventional and sometimes masochistic approach to learning something new, but it helps me understand the medium completely and it’s often more effective than taking a course on it. Also it helps me develop unique perspectives on my subject. Some people take the approach of perfecting one creative medium throughout their life. My artistic vision will be whole when I have perfected many of the necessary mediums and fuse them together.

This typographic project was hand drawn on my notebook then finished on Illustrator.
I call it Funny Mirrors and I think they’re a lot of fun.
This is my first complete font I’ve created.

  • FreQuency. A dance group started by few friends at MSU in 2009.

This year’s dance is choreographed by Jeff Yang and we are currently preparing for the pre-show try-outs this Sunday for the bi-annual variety show called Cultural Vogue. Dancers includes Jeff, Rina, Lina, Jean and myself.

    Check out our teaser video!

I was forced asked to design a t-shirt for this year’s performance and I’m satisfied with the outcome. Printed on lemon American Apparel v-neck, the front design is an abstract typography of FreQuency. I took that design, copied and flipped it to make the individual logos for all 5 members. The main back design is all of the 5 logos combined in to one intricate mega-design.

Rumor has it that there are 6 shirts printed. Who will wear the 6th one will be a mystery. Please wish us luck on our try-outs this Sunday and come watch Cultural Vogue 2011 on February 19th at the Wharton Center!
